Officer Christal Gause honored with lifesaving medal by Jacksonville Sheriff

Jacksonville, Florida – At a ceremony on December 7, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office celebrated the heroic actions of Officer Christal D. Gause by awarding her a lifesaving medal. This recognition took place during the Meritorious Awards Ceremony this month.

Officer Gause was on duty at a recent race event when a participant suddenly faced a severe medical crisis. The individual clutched their chest and fell to the ground.

Officer Gause quickly understood the gravity of the situation and immediately called for emergency assistance while providing CPR on the spot.

Lieutenant Hernandez from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD) lauded Officer Gause for her rapid action and described her CPR skills as “textbook flawless.” He noted the importance of seeing a JSO Officer adeptly perform CPR, emphasizing the essential role they play in life-saving situations.

Sheriff T.K. Waters of the JSO praised Officer Gause, saying, “Christal, I commend your efforts that day, and I’m thankful that you were in the right place at the right time.” He also informed that the individual involved in the incident had fully recovered.

The actions of Officer Christal D. Gause are a shining example of the commitment and bravery displayed by law enforcement professionals in safeguarding the community. The award of the lifesaving medal serves as a recognition of her exceptional service and dedication to public duty.
