2020 Fantasy RB Handheld Diagram: Find sleepers, backups for your best running backs

Fantasy football owners hope they never have to worry about running back handcuffs. Ideally, your choices in the first round of Christian McCaffrey or Dalvin Cook or Saquon Barkley would be healthy all season, but there will always be RB injuries, in which case a solid draft strategy is to opt for backups for your best running backs. You’ve heard of some of them, like Latavius Murray, Alexander Mattison, and Kareem Hunt. Others, like Joshua Kelley and Darrynton Evans, could be new to you (and could be must-have pickups and sleepers later in the year). Whether or not you have invested a lot of your imaginative capital in RBs, there is profit to hand-jacking them.

In a season that could also be marred by unexpected absences due to COVID-19, backing up backups could prove more important than ever. Any RB that gets pushed to duty is a priority for waivers, so if you have them toasted in advance, it can make all the difference between a playoff look and the comfort bracket.

This season, we have taken two backups deep (and sometimes three) on our handheld chart, expecting that there will occasionally be more shifts to depth maps at short notice than there have been in the past. As always, we update this page throughout the season, so it should remain a resource for you from the draft day right through your fantasy football championship.
